Conversion events are an important statistic for any KPI of a business. It is also important when running Google PPC ads as it provides the machine learning AI a metric to judge itself off of.
Choose the GA4 property for which you want to set up conversion events.
On the left-hand menu, click on "Configure" (gear icon) to access the admin panel.
In the "Property" column, click on "Conversions."
You'll see a list of "Recommended events to mark as conversions" based on the events currently being tracked on your website. You can choose any of these recommended events or click on "Create Custom Conversion Event" to create a new one.
To create a custom conversion event:
Click on "Create Custom Conversion Event."
In the "Event name" field, enter the name of the event you want to mark as a conversion. Make sure the name matches the event name you're tracking in your GA4 property. This is case sensitive.
Optionally, you can set a conversion value for this event. This can be useful for tracking revenue generated by the conversion or other relevant metrics. Enter a numerical value or select "Use event parameter," and specify the parameter name that holds the value.
Click on "Save."
Once you have set up conversion events, Google Analytics will start tracking these events and display them in the "Conversions" section of your GA4 property. You can use this data to analyze the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns and make informed decisions to optimize your website's performance.
